AmieStreet gets Orchard as content provider
Orchard represents more than 1.1 million songs
DENVER — Pioneering variable pricing digital music service AmieStreet scored a big win Wednesday with the addition of the Orchard as a content provider.
The service, which begins selling tracks for no cost and then raises the price as more users buy it, has been limited to mostly independent artists. As such, despite plenty of interest around its model, the service has long suffered from a lack of content.
The Orchard, meanwhile, represents more than 1.1 million songs, primarily independent and foreign music. The digital aggregator just last week picked up TVT Records in a bankruptcy auction, adding more high-profile independents like Pitbull and Lil’ Jon.
It’s not clear how much of the Orchard’s content will appear on AmieStreet.
